What is Soundy?
Soundy is a free, no-ads, privacy-focused SoundCloud cloud music player for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with a built-in 10-band audio equalizer and 22 iPod-style presets. It's built natively in SwiftUI for smooth, native Apple performance.
Is Soundy really free?
Yes. Soundy is 100% free to download and use. The equalizer, every preset, search, library and playback features are all included with no subscription and no in-app purchase required.
Does Soundy show ads?
No. Soundy does not display advertising of any kind, anywhere in the app. Your listening experience stays clean and uninterrupted.
Which devices are supported?
Soundy runs on iPhone (iOS 17 or later), iPad (iPadOS 17 or later), and Mac. It's a native SwiftUI app — not a web wrapper or hybrid — so it feels right at home on every Apple device.
How do I sign in with my SoundCloud account?
Open Soundy and tap "Sign in with SoundCloud". The official SoundCloud login page opens in a secure Apple-managed web session (ASWebAuthenticationSession). After approving, you're returned to the app, already signed in.
Don't have a SoundCloud account yet? Create one for free at soundcloud.com/signup, then come back to Soundy and tap "Sign in with SoundCloud".
Can I use Soundy without signing in?
No. Soundy requires a SoundCloud account to use. SoundCloud's API only allows authorized access to its catalog, so on first launch you'll be asked to sign in with your SoundCloud account.
If you don't have an account yet, register for free at soundcloud.com/signup — it takes about a minute — then come back to Soundy and tap "Sign in with SoundCloud" to start listening.
How do I turn on the equalizer?
Start playing any track, open the full player, and tap the equalizer icon at the bottom of the screen. At the top of the equalizer sheet, flip the on/off toggle. Pick a preset or drag any band to fine-tune.
What equalizer presets are included?
Soundy ships with 22 classic presets: Flat, Acoustic, Bass Booster, Bass Reducer, Classical, Dance, Deep, Electronic, Hip Hop, Jazz, Latin, Loudness, Lounge, Piano, Pop, R&B, Rock, Small Speakers, Spoken Word, Treble Booster, Treble Reducer and Vocal Booster.
Can I create my own equalizer preset?
Yes. Drag any of the 10 sliders (32 Hz to 16 kHz) to build a custom curve. Your custom settings are remembered between sessions and applied to every track until you change them.
How many bands does the Soundy equalizer have?
Soundy uses a true 10-band parametric equalizer powered by Apple's AVAudioEngine. The bands are 32 Hz, 64 Hz, 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 4 kHz, 8 kHz and 16 kHz, each with ±12 dB of gain.
Does the equalizer affect AirPlay or Bluetooth output?
Yes. The equalizer is applied at the audio engine level, so EQ adjustments are heard on built-in speakers, wired headphones, Bluetooth headphones and speakers, and AirPlay targets like HomePod and Apple TV.
How do I play music in the background?
Background playback is enabled by default. Once a track is playing, you can lock the screen, switch apps, or put your device in your pocket — Soundy keeps playing without interruption.
Does Soundy support lock-screen controls?
Yes. Now Playing info appears on your lock screen and in Control Center, including play, pause, next, previous and scrubbing, plus the artwork of the current track.
Does Soundy support AirPlay?
Yes. Tap the AirPlay button in the full player to stream to HomePod, Apple TV, AirPlay-compatible smart TVs, and AirPlay 2 speakers.
Does Soundy support CarPlay?
CarPlay support is on our roadmap and not available yet. In the meantime you can play through your car stereo using Bluetooth or a USB/Lightning cable.
How do I add a track to the playback queue?
Long-press any track (or tap the … menu) and choose "Play Next" to insert it right after the current song, or "Add to Queue" to add it at the end. The same options work on playlists and albums.
Can I reorder or remove tracks in the queue?
Yes. Open the playback queue from the full player and drag any track to reorder it. Swipe left on a track to remove it. Tap a track to jump straight to it.
How do shuffle and repeat work?
In the full player, tap the shuffle icon to randomize the upcoming queue. Tap the repeat icon to cycle through Off → Repeat All → Repeat One. Both states are saved between sessions.
Where do I find my Likes and Playlists?
Sign in with SoundCloud and open the Library tab. You'll see Likes, Playlists, Albums, Following, Stations, Recently Played and Listening History — each with full sort options and pull-to-refresh.
Can I sort my Likes by artist, title, or date?
Yes. Every list in Soundy has a sort button. Tracks can be sorted by Title, Artist, Date Liked/Added, Duration or Play Count, in ascending or descending order. Your last sort preference is remembered per section.
Why won't a track play?
Some SoundCloud tracks are geo-restricted (region-locked by the uploader's rights holder) or marked private and can't be streamed by third-party apps. Make sure you have an internet connection and the track is still public on soundcloud.com.
Why does playback stop in the background?
Check Settings → General → Background App Refresh and confirm it's enabled for Soundy. If your device is in Low Power Mode, iOS may aggressively suspend audio sessions — disabling Low Power Mode usually solves it.
How do I log out of SoundCloud in Soundy?
Open the profile or settings screen and tap "Log out". Your SoundCloud token is removed from the Keychain and all cached user data (likes, playlists, history) is wiped from the device.
Does Soundy collect or sell my data?
No. Soundy includes no third-party analytics SDKs and no advertising trackers. We don't collect or sell your listening data, contacts, location, or device identifiers. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
Where is my SoundCloud password stored?
Soundy never sees your password. You sign in directly with SoundCloud via OAuth 2.0, and only the resulting access token is stored — securely, in the iOS/macOS Keychain on your device, never on our servers.
How do I delete my account or data?
Because Soundy is a client for SoundCloud and stores no personal data on a server, there's no account to delete on our side. Simply log out and uninstall the app — all local data is removed. To delete your SoundCloud account, visit soundcloud.com.
Can I download SoundCloud tracks for offline play?
Soundy is a streaming client and does not support downloading or offline playback. The SoundCloud Terms of Service don't permit third-party apps to cache full tracks for offline listening.
Does Soundy support Family Sharing?
Soundy is free, so there's no purchase to share via Family Sharing. Each family member can download Soundy from the App Store directly.
What languages does Soundy support?
Soundy ships fully localized in English and includes localizations for many additional languages. If you'd like to add or improve a translation, email us at support@getsoundy.app.
