Introduction
The Soundy application ("Soundy", "we", "us", "our") is committed to respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the Soundy iOS, iPadOS and macOS application — distributed through the Apple App Store — handles information.
Soundy is a third-party client for the SoundCloud service. It uses the official SoundCloud API to let you stream free tracks publicly available on SoundCloud. By using Soundy you also agree to:
- SoundCloud's Terms of Use — https://soundcloud.com/terms-of-use
- SoundCloud's Privacy Policy — https://soundcloud.com/pages/privacy
This policy covers only what Soundy itself does — it does not cover SoundCloud's own data handling, which is governed by the documents above.
Information We Collect About You
Soundy does not collect any personal information about you. The app does not gather, transmit or store on our servers:
- Your name, email address, phone number or other contact details;
- Your SoundCloud username, password, or any other SoundCloud credentials;
- Your listening history, likes, follows, playlists or queue;
- Advertising identifiers such as IDFA or IDFV;
- Precise or coarse location data;
- IP address, device identifiers, clickstreams, search queries or analytics events;
- Contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or any other system data.
We do not operate user accounts, mailing lists or back-end databases that hold information about Soundy users.
How We Collect Information About You
We do not collect information about you. Soundy contains no third-party analytics frameworks, no advertising SDKs and no behavioral trackers. Specifically, Soundy does not embed Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, AppsFlyer, Branch, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, Crashlytics, Mintegral or any similar product.
When you use Soundy, your device communicates directly with SoundCloud's public API to fetch tracks, search results, artwork and metadata. Those network requests do not pass through any Soundy-operated server. How SoundCloud handles those requests is governed by SoundCloud's Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Information
Because Soundy does not collect personal information, we do not use it for anything. We do not profile users, do not personalize advertising (there is no advertising), do not measure marketing effectiveness with your data, and do not share, sell or rent any information about you.
Information stored locally on your device — such as your equalizer settings, last selected preset, sort preferences, shuffle/repeat state, recently played and listening history — is used solely to power the corresponding features of the app on your device.
Disclosure of Your Information
We have no information about you to disclose. We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise share user data with advertisers, marketing partners, data brokers, service providers or any other third party — because no such data exists in our systems.
If Soundy is ever transferred to a new owner, the same principle applies: there is no Soundy user dataset to transfer.
Transferring Your Personal Information
We do not transfer personal information across borders because we do not collect any. Your interactions with SoundCloud's servers, however, may involve cross-border data transfers under SoundCloud's own policies. Please review SoundCloud's Privacy Policy for details.
Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information
You do not need to opt out of advertising tracking, behavioral profiling or marketing communications from Soundy — none of those exist in the app. To stop all local data storage by Soundy at any time, simply log out from any SoundCloud session and uninstall the app. All local data is removed.
To opt out of SoundCloud's own tracking or marketing, follow the instructions in SoundCloud's Privacy Policy.
Data Security
Because Soundy does not transmit personal information to our servers, there is no central database for an attacker to compromise. The information that does live on your device is protected by Apple's system-level security:
- Your SoundCloud OAuth access token (if you sign in) is stored in the iOS / macOS Keychain;
- App preferences are stored in the app's sandboxed container;
- Cached artwork and metadata are stored in the sandboxed cache, automatically managed by iOS.
No transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, but Soundy uses HTTPS for all network requests to SoundCloud.
Data Retention
We do not retain personal data on our servers. Data stored locally by the app — preferences, access token, listening history, cache — is kept on your device for as long as you keep Soundy installed. Logging out of SoundCloud clears the access token and any user-specific cache. Uninstalling Soundy removes everything.
Children Under the Age of 13
Soundy is not directed at children under the age of 13. Because Soundy does not collect personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through SoundCloud while using Soundy, please contact SoundCloud directly.
Your California Privacy Rights
Under California law, residents of California may request information about a business's disclosure of certain personal information to third parties for direct marketing. Soundy does not collect or disclose any personal information, so there is nothing to disclose. If you would like to confirm that in writing, email support@getsoundy.app.
Accessing and Correcting Your Personal Information
Because we do not collect personal information, there is nothing for us to show, correct or delete on your behalf. To remove all data Soundy stores on your device, log out from SoundCloud inside the app and then uninstall Soundy. To exercise rights over data held by SoundCloud, please contact SoundCloud directly.
Withdrawing Your Consent
You can stop using Soundy at any time. Doing so means we will continue to not collect any personal information about you — exactly as before. Uninstalling Soundy removes everything the app stores on your device.
Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If we ever make a material change — for example, if Soundy ever begins to collect personal information — we will surface a clear in-app notice before the change takes effect.
Language
This Privacy Policy is provided in English. Any translation is for convenience only; in case of conflict, the English version governs.
